Rooh (The Soul)

Baarish ki boondon mein
Mere ashk aise mile
Dua maangi rooh ne
Kabhi teri rooh se waise mile
Hairaan ho khuda
Do jaan ko ek wajood kaise mile
Iss milan ke junoon mein
Meri aarzoo ko zindagi mile

बारिश की बूँदों में
मेरे अश्क ऐसे मिले
दुआ माँगी रूह ने
कभी तेरी रूह से वैसे मिले
हैरान हो खुदा
दो जान को एक वजूद कैसे मिले
इस मिलन के जुनून में
मेरी आरज़ू को ज़िंदगी मिले

These questions linger in my head –
Is it ever possible to be eternally intertwined with the soul of the one I love?
When the boundaries of the body get lifted to release the real part of us, how will we find each other and stay together when the desire remains?
I stare at the clouds so often before going to bed and watch their movement imagining I’ll be like them one day, shapeless and faceless. Will I then be able to choose which other cloud I merge into and move on as it’s companion?
